Act of Valor is an intense and overwhelming movie which clearly presents the operations of this intelligent combat branch of elite Navy Seals. Brief moments where the horrible actors attempted dialog that was awful. This movie was truly excellent, and every war movie fan should watch it. Maybe not the words they were saying, but the emotion behind it. The hot extract scene early in the movie is well worth the cost of the movie alone.
Absolute reverence and awe for these brave warriors who keep us safer by talking the fight to our enemies. Inspired by true events, the film combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the minute battlefield technology and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure. I don't blame the writing because there were some memorable lines that will stay with you. And yes, I'm sure some of it is tactically incorrect, whatever. This takes care of that, even if none of these Seals are Sir Lawrence Olivier. Act of Valor takes place in several places at the same time taking the viewer through the purposes of terrorist mastermind Abu Shabal who has escaped to Russia.
Act of Valor takes audiences deep into the secretive world of the most elite, highly trained group of warriors in the modern world. With most Navy Seal movies, the Seals are portrayed by Hollywood guys who might actually be the anti-war type, and you're sort of rolling your eyes at them. If Yes, I understand love America, support the military and enjoy action movies you want be dissapointed. If you're looking for an award level performance with real actors playing soldier, this is not your movie. There are some really heartfelt moments that I could identify with - when the families are saying goodbye as they leave for their mission, when they're all together on the beach, all of that.
It lent a really nice realism to the whole thing. I loved it, and everyone I know who's watched it has too. The action scenes are awesome. And the interrogation scene was pretty incredible. When I watched this movie, I was incredibly glad that my big bro was about to retire. Having read about the making of the movie before buying it this made the movie even better for me. It terrified me looking at what they do, but I'm so proud that they're out there able to do it.
I attended the midnight debut of this film in theaters and the initially-rowdy crowd became so quiet by the end you could hear a mouse fart. I am an extremely tough grader, and I only give 5 stars to absolute classics. It also avoids the common stupid mistake of bogging down in talking and relationships. The directors of the film very cleverly take the audience to know each of the characters of the Bandito Platoon, 7 Navy Seal who share in family in Coronado, California, until they are dispatched to Costa Rica to extract agent Morales alive. As the valiant men of Bandito Platoon race to stop a coordinated attack that could kill and wound thousands of American civilians, they must balance their commitment to country, team and their families back home.
I've seen it firsthand, and it rang incredibly true. Let's just say he's definitely a method actor. They are A-list and are better than many A-list movies out there. The intense persecutions filled with lots of adrenaline rush, the strategically coordinated parachute jumps, snipers with absolute control, and the coldly calculated rescue and extraction are ingredients of nonfiction but of real action. Either way, I think it's way more accurate than most other films in this genre. The action is great but there is a trade-off of less polished acting by these real-life heroes.
If you don't love America or action you should watch this for a few reasons while the Military men and women deserve our support. I highly recommend viewing this film, which includes former Navy Seals in its cast. The acting suffers somewhat and there is an ever so slightly cheesy, amateur feel to this movie, but I think you will agree that the move to use real Seals kicks this movie into high gear and makes it a real thrill ride. Like the title of my review says, this is still one of the best war movies since 1990, though, and definitely should get 4 to 4. Non fictional, very much real topics, particularly of the possibility of foreign groups' efforts to sneak in attackers into America. Quite simply, this movie rocks and delivers everything it should. Ultimately, if you have low expectations for the acting and it isn't so much their acting as their dialog , and can have patience for the very few scenes that include dialog, then you won't be dissapointed by this nail biter exciting thriller! The mise en scene, and the photography are actually a complete top notch job.
. It moves from one action scene to the next. Hmmm, well despite just awful acting this movie was beyond suspensful! With a compelling and successful plot, directors McCoy and Waugh reward the audience with performances of active Navy personnel to give more veracity to the film, convinced that there is no acting, but actual performance as in any scenario of war or maneuver rescue. This film portrays a face totally real of the work carried out by this branch of the Navy. For anyone that doesn't know, they used real Navy Seals for the cast of this movie. The dialogue is a bit more on the meh side, because obviously most of these guys aren't actors. The presence of true combat heroes in the characters of the elite Navy Seals team makes this film unique in its military and action genre, very masterly directed and conceived to fill the cinemas of pride and energy.
Vivid, exciting action scenes depicting Navy Seal situation that will have your stomach in knots almost the whole time. Each time they accomplish their mission, a new piece of intelligence reveals another shocking twist to the deadly terror plot, which stretches from Chechnya to the Philippines and from Ukraine to Somalia. The scenes depicted have some basis in real life events though scripted into a screenplay to make a better movie. This movie rocks and rolls for almost two hours straight. This movie was really excellent, and I recommend it to everyone.
