Last week I went to a friends shop to have them change the oil and we started talking about the problem. I would totally keep it, but i have no reason to believe that this wont happen again. I ended up replacing the speed sensor in the rear differential , the crankshaft sensor, and readjusted the bands with no luck. I was told by the repair shop that the fron seal was not there, the transmission had moulded seals and they had never seen that before? Several times I've manually downshifted the transmission to first or second gear to obtain proper acceleration. Applied brakes at light but wheels keep spinning.

Update from Feb 27, 2014 : My truck is great I've been driving it for about 5 years now and I've never had a problem until a couple days ago. The vehicle remained parked for an hour and was able to be driven.

This truck was working perfectly when I took it in for service.
A standard service drop the pan, change filter, refill doesn't replace all the fluid. One lady actually went to bert wolfe with me on a rainy day to show hers did not have this issue. He or she does this by manipulating the clutch which is on the right of the driver in most manual transmission cars. The manufacturer was not alerted. I'm really not surprised to have this issue, I've had just about everything wrong with this vehicle that I possibly could. After doing some research online about the other 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac models I will never by another Ford Explorer Sport Trac and will not recommend to anyone about buying one of those models! There were no warning indicators. Back up and running now. The emergency brake was applied in order to stop the vehicle. Now when my transmission slips and when it stalls my overdrive will flash after it shifts. This is a very dangerous situation when pulling into traffic. I take very good care of my vehilces and I am meticilous about up keep. I am very disappointed in Ford. When the gear is placed into drive, the vehicle operates in neutral. This transmission unit has been inspected, tested and ready to ship. I have contacted the dealership regarding the issue and they acted as if they had never heard of such an issue. Ford needs to step up and accept responsibility for shoddy parts and vehicles. Was told it would come out of it. In eastern utah my transmission without warning just started slipping and I had to quickly manually down shift the automatic and hope that it would go to avoid getting broad sided by a semi that was bearing down on me.
